Hello new to the site, looking for info on a transmission swap fo my 2011 mini cooper s automatic with 140k miles on it.

I have recently had slippage in the 3rd and 4th gear....did a flush 60k since the last one and the fluid was black. I did 3 cycles and notices o improvement.

Took the car to an independent bmw expert and ask him to give me his evaluation. He double checked the fluid level and check all the solenoids, His opinion was the transmission was toast and began to discuss replacement options.

My question is about programming. If i throw the dice and get a low mileage transmission and install it my self will anything need to be reprogrammed, and if so please offer recommendations. .

 

The 2011 is a second gen car. This is the third gen area. You’ll likely have better luck getting correct info if you post this in the second gen area.

 

Sorry...I meant to post to R56 ...my eyes are on par with my tranny lol
