Hot weather = leaks

Well, since it's turned so hot my
MCS seems to have developed some leaks

1. Dripping oil on my garage floor looks like from right (passenger) side of engine. Real slight so far but guess I'd better have dealer look at it.

2. Front fenders, the black wheel arches. something's dripping out from under the hood and dripping down and staining the arches. It's not washer fluid and it's doing it on both sides. Maybe bonnet support struts are leaking ?..

Any ideas?

On #2, is it yellow-ish? If so, I'd assume that is cosmoline. You can do a search on that term for more info.

Also, I assume this is on the 2011 in your sig? If so, mods probably should move this to the 2nd Gen forums.

2011 mini's are refered to as gen2 mini's....
2002-2006 (or 2008 cabrio's) are gen 1 cars, newer ones are gen2...the newer desgin.
Most, if not all gen1 cars are out of warreny.
Your signature says you have a 2011 car.....so gen2

Sorry, can't help with #1, but your #2 Issue is Cosmoline Drip, it's a "lubricant" that is applied to all seems as a Rust Inhibitor. There is a product on the market called "CosmoNot" here's a link...

The cars when shiped are coated in a thick waxey stuff....the mentioned cosmoline...it is washed off with near boiling water at the port....the wax/cosmoline is then recovered, and burnt to heat more water....resulting in 0 lanfiil junk...unlike the common.plastic wrap...mini was very proud of this, and did some promotion of it...the negative is it can seep into so creavises....and leak/drip out on the first few hot days...leaving streaks...

Yep, the yellowish stuff is cosmoline. Prima makes a product called Cosmonot that you can use to remove it easily.

Thanks all. I never would have thought of that but makes perfect sense. It occured during our first really really hot days of the year. I think that explains both issues.

Seems other folks have had the leaking Bonnet
