Hi. I haven't seen anything about this rattle since I started here. I have a 2017 F55 S model. Over small bumps, I hear a rattle, almost like a boing-boing or twang type of reverberation rattle. Somewhere in rear of car, thinking headliner area but could be wrong. It is not the hatch shelf, or the sunroof shades as it does it with them opened or closed. Also not the seatbelts.

Again, on small bumps only. Big bumps and potholes and its quiet. I have the stock 16" runflats. Could it be specific to F55 since it has extra doors I wonder?

 

We have a 2016, pretty quiet car. Compared to the F56 or R60 (rattle can). Noises are really hard to track down. You need someone in the back while your driving to locate it while driving. It pretty surprising that some of the noises are actually nowhere near where you think they are coming from.

As you are probably under warranty, that would be a MINI service employee. In my case I went for a long ride with the shop foreman until he identified rattles and squeaks in my car and they got most of them.

 

Seats up or down?

I have a 2017 f55 S as well but only notice noises when the seats are down, and even then sounds like the storage shelf is bouncing around.

 

Seats up for me. I don't think it's the rear hatch shelf, if that is what you mean? I don't have the "storage package" on this car. Wish I did!

 

I have a 2016 F55s and I had a somewhat similar rattle in the hatch towards the ceiling. When you open the hatch, there's two ***** attached to the body, one on each side of the opening. I twisted those a little bit either way and that seemed to do the trick for me. Not sure if the hatch rests on those or what but seemed to work

 

Maybe check the undercarriage for any hanging panels. I had the same sound you were describing and it was due to a panel that was half unbolted and would sound like a diveboard anytime I went over a speedbump.
