What brake fluid for SS line install?
Hey guys. I've got a huge pile of mods in my garage and one of these days I'm going to get it all installed ya hear! As I'm inching closer I realize I probably need some brake fluid. I bought the NM SS braided brake line kit. What fluid, and how much, do I need to give the installers? I drive very hard on the street and brake from high speeds but this thing probably wont see true track time.
Thanks!
Best,
Gene

If you don't have any regular plans on hitting the track, then a 'good' DOT 4 fluid should cover your needs. I have used the Castrol DOT 4 (formerly GT LMA) in my DD's with success over the past 10+ years. That fluid used to handle auto-x and milder track days with a fresh fill as well. Now that I push things a bit harder in my 'toy' I run a higher performance fluid in it.
As for quantity, I would recommend a quart bottle for a complete flush. I vacuum bleed my systems and put through 6-8 oz per corner to help flush out as much 'old' fluid as possible. I am sure I don't need that much, but for the cost (~$20) and the fact you don't want to let this stuff sit on the shelf, it helps me feel more confident in my brakes by putting through an entire bottle. YMMV.

My vote for ATE type 200, i used to use super blue before they made it nla in the US because of the color.

Most people just use DOT 4 normal fluid for just daily, I do track days and push them hard.
