Hi-temp brake fluid that looks idential to MINI/OEM fluid

Hi folks,

I'd like to do a fluid flush on my car with a high temperature fluid (like Superblue), but I'd like it to look the same as the OEM fluid they use. My dealer told me that if they notice different fluid in the brakes, they would void the warranty (so a blue fluid is not an option). Just wondering what I can use to preserve the warranty.

While I don't see how bleeding or changing fluid and the color change could possibly void a warranty, most fluids are golden in color. Some a bit darker than others. I recall the MINI being on the dark side but that too comes from simply time and possible seal contamination. Just pick a name brand DOT3 and let it go at that. Pick your argument if and when the time comes.

Todd,

Thanks for the reply. I received some clarification and it seems while the warranty "could" be voided, the major problem is that they can deny the free brake changes (as included in the maintainance plan).

I don't understand it, but I'd rather be safe.

Thanks!

They can not void your warranty because you changed the fluid.

I use Motul 600. It has a similar golden color to stock that they would probably not notice.

My problem is making sure the dealer does not flush the fluid when I have the car in. I have to make a big point not to flush the fluid so they don't get rid of my expensive high temp fluid.

As Butch said, you could use ATE Super Gold, or Motul RBF 600 works great. Castrol SRF is very expensive, but is also a similar color. Wilwood makes a high temp fluid that is about the same too. I would not go less than DOT 4.

Hope that helps!
Randy
