Not sure I understand this part - are you saying you will not be coming back to Mini?

Had hope i would return in a gen3, but not so sure anymore...the feel...not sure...thinking the gen1 gp's are dropping in price...and soon a 3rd car might work again. Had hope the "F" SERIES would be great...but they seem so..."meahh". Trying to be a mini luxury car..sure they might be faster. And have a nicer interior...but to option one up, they are in tough territory... Others simply do better IMO with the $$$ per fun at the end of the day IMO.
Tough to explain...but at the end of the day, I was willing to put my $$ on what MINI once sold...waited nearly 6 months for delivery....but today...not so sure...the character has changed.

This is a MINI forum so I sort of understand the Prius-hating in some posts.

My wife drives one - she absolutely loves it - sincerely loves the car. She's not a car enthusiast though. We got it brand new in 2009 and it currently has close to 130K miles. Has something gone wrong with it beyond wear and tear (ie. tire replacement, spark plugs, etc?) Nope. That thing just keeps chugging along.

Yeah, it has no soul or personality -- even my wife will tell you that when she compares it to my MINI.

Looking back, I can't ask for a car that does what it says on the box: Get you from point A to point B, day in and day out. Knock on wood, my MINI hasn't had a single issue.... yet.

Sorry about the issue. Glad to hear Mini stepped up.

This would be a more appropriate location for this conversation.

Yup

Sold our 15 Prius Plug In and bought the Mini. The Prius was nice. 13 miles on electric only and the wife had a 10mile round trip so MPG was crazy good. We averaged about 60 MPG. For a car to get you from point A to point B it was fine. Aside from that it was BORING, sounded like a tin can when closing the doors and just blah.

Our good past experience is about the only reason I was OK with getting another MINI. They've taken care of the big issues thus far but the issues I see popping up on the forums are certainly frightening. My Toyotas have spoiled me in their stone cold dependability. While I really like the Clubman and think that I'll enjoy the one we have on order, I'd have been completely OK if my wife would have preferred to keep her old R53 as a weekend car and gone with an IS300 AWD or IS350 AWD as her daily driver.

Yep, your opinion, and you know what they say about opinions.

Having the electric motor, I'm thinking that would provide enough torque so it doesn't feel sluggish at low rpm, but that may be just my wishful thoughts. Does anyone have experience with Prius? Prius 5 looks like it's too long and read reviews about rattles inside.
I have a prius C 2013, and now a mini s convertible 2016. I wouldn't go back to the Prius. It's just not fun. I actually look forward to the 90 minute drive to and from work now. I was averaging about 47mpg with the Prius, and am getting 35 mpg avg with the mini. Highway milage is about 38mpg to 40mpg driving at 70 to 75 mph. City is low 30s.

Sounds like you need a minivan or a SUV. Try a Mazda CX5.

I went from a 2003 MCS to a 2005 Prius (because of a bet with myself). I'm convinced that 50% of the difference in mileage is that the MINI makes me drive like a maniac, whereas the Prius makes me drive like a grandmother. Yes, dementor indeed! Many a time with the Prius I have to worry about falling asleep at the wheel from sheer boredom. In 2013 I could stand it no longer (all the soul had been sucked out) and got a 2013 MCS. That put the fun back in my automotive life! Still have the Prius as a backup. Still, I'd probably prefer to get just about anything other than a Prius. A Leaf, a Tesla, a VW diesel, anything has more soul than the Prius. But I still have it. And it's still the unloved stepchild that does all of the hard work and misses out on all the fun at the grand ball.
