I see the little pictograph. Sounds like their recommendation spreads the load out evenly even though they will actually clamp on anywhere. All of this will make much more sense when I actually get my car! Thanks so much for your help.

 

My Clyde and ebay crossbars, paid about $110 and liked how they were lower profiled than OEM.
Now for a box, hoping to get a MINI one on the super cheap.

I have just changed my F55 to an F54 but when I had it the cross bars stayed attached to the factory rails most of the time. If it wasn’t for the roof box then it was for the canoe or kayak.

 

Based on their website, Rocky Mounts trays do not come in colors any longer. Just black and silver. I have JetLine trays in mine in black, which is fine, since my roof is black.

 

I just purchased 23 MINI Cooper S, F55 And I would like to add a rack system. I like the lower profile of the Thule but I’m curious how the quality of the MINI bars compare to either the Thule or Yakima bars. Can anyone comment on this? I’m also curious about mixing and matching various components (crossbars, baskets and boxes) across the different brands.

BTW, my 55 does have factory roof rails.

 

If you dont have factory roof rail adapters, you will need to add them for the MINI factory system to work. Thule makes the Genuine MINI bars.
