Accessory Gauge Wiring
I had this thread in the Modifications forum under Electrical but never got a single response. Let's see if I do any better here
So I'm just about ready to hook up the discreet oil temp & oil pres gauges I've installed and I have a couple of questions to see if I can get some input on. I'm going to need power and ground which I figured I'd tap off the fuse block. The sensors are fairly straight forward too. It's the lighting that concerns me and the CANBUS that these cars operate with.
Can I tap into one of the dash or center pod wires that provide switched/dimmed lighting without the car throwing a code?
Or is there a tap on the fuse block that's switched/dimmed lighting perhaps to use?

Papa. Was speaking to the tech at AEM gauges. Their gauges are pretty cool. They have a current sensing grey wire that allows their gauges to dim with the dimmer. The only issue is you would need to soldier onto the circuit board. He is looking in to it for me. He said that it is a problem that they want to solve. Not sure if that is how the Spek gauges work....I'll check the wiring for them - I assume it is on their site.
