Remus Responder, PedalBox, Powerpedal, etc. They all seem to be the same thing. Isn't it just a glorified Sport Button? It isn't magic, or am I missing something?

Sounds like the SprintBooster for the 1st and 2nd Gen MINI.

You're right- pretty much does what the sport button does. Which I'll happily take! As I understand it, they work to reduce / eliminate the lag & dampening that is designed into drive-by-wire throttles. Gives you control that's closer to a real cable throttle. At the $300 that most of these cost, I was gonna pass, but at 225, seems worth a shot to me. I'll post a full review in its own thread once I get mine.

I have a 6 speed manuals. 2010 mcs, 2014 mcs and now a 2016 jcw. Although the gas pedals are all identical I notice that the gen 3 cars all have this blip thing when you feather the gas pedal. Haven't drive an auto so not sure if it displays the same symptoms...I find it really annoying. It happens in sport mode too.
Do you think this thing will correct this problem? ..or had anyone else noticed it?

I notice that too. And I think that a big reason why this is a feature is that the drive-by-wire is set up to actually prevent you adding blips, in the goal of efficiency. I think it's just the computer preventing stalls. Doesn't bother me- actually I like it. Of course, I'd like it more if the throttle was sensitive enough to let me do my own blipping... and hopefully the Responder will help with that. But I really doubt any of the throttle modifier things will stop the computer from doing it when it sees a stall coming.

I wonder if you can switch of the anti-stall feature in the software. Bet you can. Wonder if this condition happens in BMW land too...

definitely ordering the responder. just installed the NM module tonight, running on the low setting. haven't driven too much yet but WOW. huge difference, car is way more responsive. hits 60mph before i can blink... this is my first turbo car and i can see why everyone loves tuning them. such a small dollar investment for a lot more power. I honestly don't think i would want much more as the torque steer is more noticeable, without better tires than the stock pirrellis it would be hard to put the power down without allot of wheel spin unless in a straight line.

I am loving the mini and with the NM it is where i want the car to be. next is the responder then maybe the jcw pro suspension.

Hey, mct..
It wasn't clear from your original post, are you the one running the NM + JCW tune? Or was that someone else? Looking at the figures, it seems like a no-brainer. I've got the JCW tune on my F56, thinking about the NM but wanted to get real world driving feedback. Dyno figures are awesome, but what are the feelings on the overall experience "butt dyno" response?

Correct me if I am wrong, but the JCW Pro Tuning Kit is basically an exhaust and tune. So why would NM or BMS not be able to just overtake that and set up a better tune? It seems back asswards to pay for a JCW tune and then get another to overwrite it.

Yea you are incorrect. They do not overwrite anything at all. They are plug-in/piggyback modules. They simply ADD to what you already have - not overwrite. Basically the modules both work similarly in that they trick the ECU to think it is producing 2 - 4 PSI lower that what is actually being output, resulting in the ECU generating an additional 2 - 4 PSI of boost.

Need some help ASAP

I'm having the tuning kit installed next Wednesday. My dilemma is being this close to Christmas I don't want to spend the $150 for the JCW tips yet. I'd rather add them in another month or so. I need to know what the inlet size of the tip is so I can order some decent, but cheap alternatives to use for a while. Does anyone know what the exit size is for the JCW Pro exhaust? Any help would be appreciated.

The tips are just a hair over 3" wide

That's the exit size of the tip. I need to know the inlet size or the size of the pipe itself so I can order the correct tips.

No that was the inside pipe - not the outer tips

After spending most of a day searching for a cheap, but decent alternative for the JCW Pro tips I finally said screw it and ordered the JCW chrome tips. Got my parts guy to match the best online price I found. Ended up costing ~$150 OTD for the pair.
I have an appointment Wednesday to have the tuning kit installed and my rear fogs coded. Can't wait!

Appreciate the help mct.

I absolutely love the "sports upgrade". I have a JCW, so it was exhaust only, but still I love the sound, I love the little extra pull I seem to get, I love the tips, hell I even love those 2 foam circular pieces with the hole in the middle that fits perfectly in your cup holder where you're meant to place your Bluetooth ****!

Now after reading this thread I'm going after the NM mod.
This is a great forum!

First off, thanks for posting all the info from the Dyno days with comparisons between the JCW, Stock MCS, and your car w/ JCW kit and again after the NM tuner installed.

I just ordered the JCW kit from my dealer and will see how much I like it and then go for the NM tuner if I still want more UUMPH!.

I'd guess your dyno numbers with the JCW tuner were done with the open exhaust (track) rather than the sport mode.

You have any idea if there is a HP/Torque loss if you go with the closed exhaust (sport setting)? I'm a little confused since some say you get the HP/ Torque gain in either position, The open (track) setting only changes the exhaust note. True or false? Anyone? Bueller?

Excellent question regarding the flap open vs closed. All Dyno runs were done with flap open. Will have to do some runs with flap closed. The feeling I have is with the flap open it feels more sporty but that could simply be the enhanced sound making the experience more visceral.

Sorry for bringinhh this thread back to life.

So to resume, is it safe to run JCW Tuning Kit and NM module ( low settings ) on a Mini S?

Thanks

Yes. It's the exact combination I've been running since the first of the year. No adverse effects and I like it more every day.
