Onboard Computer Question
I have a question about one of the on-board computer's displays. When you continually press the BC button to change the computer display, you come to the screen which shows a gas pump and MPG, then pressing one more time you get the display in the picture, which also says MPG. It shows several dashes when not moving, but shows a constantly changing number while driving. It goes up to 99.9 then rolls over and starts all over. What is this number, it it working normally?
Thanks,
Brian
Rats, the pic is upside again, but you get the idea.

In the manual, it lists the displays in order.
The current fuel consumption, in mpg, would go pretty high when you are coasting at high speed.
Info display
Repeatedly pressing the button on the turn signal lever calls up the following information in the info display:
▷ Range.
▷ GREEN Info. When GREEN Mode is activated.
▷ Average fuel consumption.
▷ Current fuel consumption.
▷ Average speed.
▷ Date.
▷ Engine temperature display.
▷ Speed limit detection.
▷ Speed.

That sounds handy, but my issue is it doesn't display a singular number. Yes I know it change as you drive, but mine spins incessantly. The numbers continually change, up to 99.9 then start all over again, it never comes to rest.
I'm just wondering if something needs reset or maybe it takes so many miles for it get tuned in.

Try this: Floor it, and keep it there. The instant MPG should read something like 7 or 8 MPG and stay there until you lift. Next, lift your foot and keep it off, engine braking in-gear. It'll read 99.9 and stay there until you either approach stopping the car or touch the throttle.
If neither of those experiments result in stable instant MPG readings, then your OBD has a problem your dealership needs to fix.

This is pretty normal. Unless you were on a flat grade of road with the gas pedal at an exact and fixed position, it will fluctuate from ~7-8 to 99.9. Again, this is an MPG estimate for that instant. If you change the throttle position, gear, road conditions, etc, AT ALL they will impact the instant read and that's the point, so you can see how different factors affect your current mpg.
