Such a pretty little car.

I might have to hang it on the wall to keep from messing it up.
3rd full day of ownership. 195 miles on the ODO.
Today I ran the front air dam up on the dam curb at the Dr. and scratched the bottom. Then when my wife and I were leaving to go for our evening walk, I opened the door into her car.
Oh well. at least Ive got those first new car scratches out of the way.

First hurts the most, and those damn dams are too low! Got my first stone chip--road badge of courage I guess. Enjoy it!

Consider it character building for your car: enjoy the drive. Cosmetic issues don't detract from the fun :thumbs:

(Yes, totally sucks to get your first ding or scratch, I feel ya)

My first ding and scratches were from a Tahoe backing into me. Nailed me dead center in the front end. Been in the body shop since last Monday. Supposed to pick it up tomorrow. Consider yourself lucky BT.

The front air dams are low but these cars are so short you can park two feet away from a parking curb and still not stick out as far as the car parked next to you. You don't need to risk getting close.

Yes, I've been training myself on that after tucking my Forester into parking spaces for six years by letting the tires bump the parking stop, thanks to the ground clearance.

This is something I'll have to keep in mind, as pretty much any car we might be coming from is significantly larger.

I've got two small scratches in the rear bumper from a wayward parallel parker's license plate screws.

As for the front air dam; be careful. My girlfriend damn near ripped off the front bumper of her Mazda3 after parking over a wall of ice.

It's always easier for me to drive a car with a few minor imperfections, as long as I don't notice them every time I walk up to the car. Driving a perfect is stressfull.

More important though, what did your Wife say about you hitting her car?

Yes, have to watch that lower front chin/ brake ducts , they do stick out.

I have to practice this also. I havnt had a sporty type car since I owned a Grand National in 94. Ive been driving trucks ever since.

She bitched me out for not parking over further. "Youve got wide doors". She was also glad it wasnt her that did it.
