Could someone please post a photo of a new 2016 interior door? I'm curious if they really changed the window switches to black from chrome.

 

MINI continues to offer the Chrome Line Interior for 2016 - chrome switches might be a part of that "interior" (a $250 option).

 

Has anyone taken delivery of a 2016 yet?

 

Perhaps in U.K. Certainly not in the Americas.

 

Mine is expected to hit the VDC in Georgia on July 29th and I did opt for the chrome line interior. Not sure if that affects the toggles or door locks though.

 

We're still receiving 2015's off the truck...probably going to be a few more weeks.

 

I saw a 2016 with all the black trim drive by me (almost run me over actually, never been so mad at a MINI, lol!) yesterday in Prague and boy have I never been so disgusted by a MINI in my life, it looks so low quality and as if it's lacking character, I was never a fan of the silver trim on the Cooper's either, which is why I opted for the S, but now they just made it look cheap. I didn't get to look inside as it was driving, but I imagine they made the inside look just as cheap as the outside. On the other hand I finally got to see the MINI yours steering wheel and seats a couple weeks ago in the MINI exhibition at the BMW Museum in Munich and have to say the quality of the leathers are quite impressive.

 

Based on your description and where you were, you likely saw a MINI One as there are no production ready/registered 2016 MINIs roaming the Earth at the moment (or at least not in the past few weeks).


The MINI One is a base-level sub "Cooper" model that is for the European market only. I comes with all black exterior trim, black slotted grille and a smaller engine than the 1.5 turbo. It is a price leader and low-tax option needed for the EU.


Since MINI is marketed as a Premium brand here in the US, we will never see this model exported.

 

Here is some new MINI news updates. Here is the '16 convertible spy shots. Article says it will probably release this summer. When you build on the MINI site it gives you an interior shot as well here and you can slightly see the switches.

 

Yeah, might've been a MINI One, didn't even consider it nor did I look at the rear of the car to see the model designation, my cousin inItaly has a MINI One, so I did know they existed, just didn't really think of it. But I wouldn't doubt if MINI uses the same parts as the MINI One on the Cooper, would probably save them a lot of money and make sense, at least on their part. Regardless it was ugly and the lady driving it was extremely rude and inconsiderate as I was already like halfway into the crosswalk.
