So after digging around online, I know that the 11th digit of your VIN tells you where your Mini is being born. What I haven't been able to get a concrete answer on is what that 11th digit means...
The last 7 digits of my VIN begin with 2B.
Is it 2A and 2B out of Oxford and 3 out of the Netherlands?
I've also read that VINS with T as the 11th digit are out of Oxford as well.
Just wondering if there's a definitive answer to this.
Thanks!

Put your VIN in here:

Mine has a T and was built at Oxford before the new factory was producing MINIs.

Hey, Dirty! Congrats! Just pasted a bit from one of my other posts. This was the best info I had so hope it helps.
Recognize that due to increased production, some of these cars come out of Oxford while others come from NEDCAR in Born, Holland. From what I've seen so far, and maybe it's just coincidence, many of the 3 cylinder models ( non S ) are coming from Born while the S models seem to come from Oxford. Check that all important "7th to last digit" in your VIN....if it's a "T" or a "2", I believe it's Oxford. A "3" and it's Holland.

Thanks guys! That's what I thought as well. Mine is a 2 so, if that's the case, I'm really happy it's coming from Oxford (nothing against the Dutch, but I'm a Brit in the US)
I tried the BMW decoder thing and it's showing an old car from 1973:
Type: 0260 Katalysator: ohne Screen: nein Series: 2476 Market: Europa Model description: R75/5 Chassis: Motorrad Production date: 01/1973
I guess it takes a few days to update itself. BMW must recycle their VIN numbers

The R75/5 was a BMW motorcycle Originally Posted by dirtyscarab

Back in 1973 a BMW VIN was only 7 characters. The VIN of my 1973 BMW 2002tii was 2763191, but it comes up as a 1987 BMW 735i on the decoder.

Check again in a few days - it should update a little after it's left the factory. Originally Posted by dirtyscarab
