Latest Software update annoyance

Since getting all software updates applied, I noticed that when I start the car the radio defaults to the select external device menu, as opposed to being where I left it at the time (which was iPod/USB). Who thought that was a good idea?

When was your SW update done? Can you share the version number(s)?

IMO most routine software/firmware updates do more harm than good. I've been on several cellphone and smart TV forums and lots of people want to install the latest updates, then their device doesn't work as well as before. I assume you had it done because of a problem with the car. My 2007 Mini never had a problem and never had a software update.

Thanks! here's my SW info from about 4 weeks ago, as you can see, quite a number of revisions since. Who knows what else they've changed in your SW. I'll be sure to post an update when I get it at my next oil change.

How do you get a software update? At the dealer? Is it free?

Yes at the dealer. I would probably take the "if it ain't broke" approach toward any updates, however. If unsure ask a SA at MINI if there are any crucial updates that need to be installed.
