Start-Stop?

While I am patiently waiting for my F56S auto, I am curious about "start-stop". After shutting down the engine, will I have to shut off start-stop, like having to turn on sport mode in my R56s every time I restart the engine?

No. It remembers the setting it was in when the ignition is turned off.

In the 2014, it remembers the last setting you have it set to. If you turn on Green mode, however, it automatically turns start/stop back on.

+1 for ALL modes. It will also turn on the climate control after every start up....a REAL PIA, and no way to disable this.

Yeah...this one is a real head scratcher. Half the time I'm turning off the AC, the other times I'm fiddling with the fan settings. The car makes you think way too much (LOL...especially in a manual when I am shutting off the engine, and having to "think" to release the clutch prior to hitting the Start/Stop switch the second time!)

Maybe they changed something on the F56, but on the R56 you can shut down off the car down completely by pressing and holding the start/stop switch. I seem to remember it working the same way when I test drove an F56 earlier this year.

If you tap the on/off switch 2x quickly the Mini turns off. You dont have to worry about your foot on the clutch or not. Took me awhile to figure that out!

I'm confused. I don't like the herky-jerky start-stop, so I have it turned off (with the little orange light showing). Most of the time it stays off after each restart. Sometimes, though, it's back on (no light showing), with no discernible reason why. Same key, even same day most of the time.

Can anyone enlighten me?

The thing honestly has a mind of its own! I've experienced the same issue; I mostly keep the Auto Start/Stop in off mode and occasionally when turning on the vehicle it goes back to on. It's got personality, I'll give it that much!

I actually tried this tonight when I pulled into my driveway. It immediately turned off and then right back on. I did this twice with the same results.

Others able to do this in a manual?

Just don't turn the wheel after it stops or it will fire up again.

My auto start/stop has completely stopped working, I'm thinking maybe that's a good thing and not to bother getting it fixed! It definitely has a mind of it's own, once it turned back on the lock doors after starting to drive feature when I keep it turned off, I'm waiting for it to lock me out of the car!

There are many pre requisites to the auto start stop function engaging. So it may seem to some that it isn't working. If I recall the car has to be up to temp. The battery voltage can't be below a certain value. The outside temp has to be above a certain value. There can't be any fluctuation of brake pedal pressure. You can't touch the throttle and the steering wheel has to be kept still and not turned beyond a certain limit. There may be more. Btw all of those rules apply to my BMW X1 with start stop. Just saying.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but my auto start/stop worked flawlessly from May 17 (pick up date) to Sept.9. It worked every day, multiple times a day, but since Sept. 9 (which coincidentally was the one time it wouldn't switch off) it hasn't turned on once.
On the bright side, at least I never have to turn it off like other people do. Also my automatic climate control doesn't come on every time I start the car like other people, so apparently my car is just different.

I might be able to enlighten. It will stay off unless you go into Green mode where it will automagically turn back on again.

I really thought I'd hate it and asked the salesman the same question as others, will it stay off? However, I find it so unobtrusive I just leave it on. By the time I get the clutch in and gear into first, the car has started and is ready to go. I just hasn't ever gotten in my way. But I'm not preaching, to each their own.

Yes. when in the green mode, it, (auto start), will go on again and stay on until I manually shut it off. However, if I switch it off, mine stays off. If I shut the car down in green mode, it will automatically come on when I start the car until I manually shut it off again.

That's correct. If in green mode it will automatically come on

You can disable the Automatic Climate control turning on every time by default by coding IHKA3 -> 3003 -> MEMORY_OFF -> "aktiv". Mine is always off by default now.

Another good trick is to program it so that when you open the door, everything turns off. For example, park your car, press ignition once to stop engine, then just opening the door will turn off everything. No need to press the ignition twice anymore. This is BDC_BODY -> 3020 -> TCM_LOGIC_R_OFF_DOOR -> "activ".

Other thing I found very useful is to disable automatic-airconditioner when using Automatic Climate Control. I agree, I hate cars having it's own mind on things they shouldn't.
