F55/F56 Anyone Hear Anything??
Depends on your location and the contract with the transporter. BMWs and MINIs are transported on both open and closed transport trucks. The "goo" (cosmoline) is washed off at the VDC, but the transport tape (white adhesive) is removed by the selling dealer, so they are well protected.
As of this writing, the EPA has released the following vehicles:

I'll take it
Of course, I had to ask my dealer for an update...he said that there is no specific update but that the cars are being released to the trucking companies today. So do the dealers not know the cars are being delivered until they arrive at the dealer?! My dealer is close to the port...hopefully I have an update today!
My R58 JCW gets better mileage than the F56 MCS? I serously doubt that. I get 25 MPG in town driving pretty hard. I got 29 MPG in my 2007 MCS. The new thing has to get at least that good of mileage.
Talked to our saleschick today. I get the feeling that this situation is driving her as crazy as it is everyone else. (She's a high-energy Type-A, very sharp bubbly sort) She tells me that even though we're literally just over an hour from the NJDC she has no idea when/what is going to show up on their lot until the truck physically arrives. So they're not telling the customers anything because they don't know anything! Says that they have over 40 sold vehicles in jail. They'll be doing an "all hands on deck", including Saturday and Sunday, if there are cars ready to prep for delivery.
Also -- I completed the DriversED.com course and got the promotional discount. The first and only one that has done so at this dealership.

What did you do with the certificate?
I completed the course too, got the certificate. But haven't done anything with it yet. Was going to bring it to delivery. But, there was a "not valid with orders before X" on mine that may be an issue... was hoping dealer would ignore it or not see -- so I'm very curious if you actually turned into dealer and what they did if anything.
Ordered the car on 5 July.
Emailed the PDF to them.
Unless there's a monkey wrench lurking somewhere, this looks reasonably straightforward.

Well that's weird. How did DriversED know that you were a Mini customer working on the $500? When I signed up for the course, there was no connection, and nothing on their site that suggested any relationship.
The text you quoted is pretty close to the text on the MiniUSA site that describes the promotion. I made a screencap of the promotion (it's still on the site, AFAIK) and will try to attach it.

I am amazed at what is going on here with Mini. We have only been waiting a few weeks so it is no big deal but I can't believe what is happening here. Mini takes orders for cars but can't deliver. Mini dealers can't/won't update buyers on status of delivery. Buyers take to this forum to get information because Mini can't/won't provide information. I have been buying cars for 30 years and have never heard of this before. Really? This is happening here? Is this unique to Mini? Are Honda/Toyota buyers taking to the web to vent their frustration because they can't take delivery of their car? It really is unbelievable!
LOL, that's crazy. I cut and pasted that without reading it says 2015 hardtops excluded! Wow. It's funny, because in the actual PDF, it's all scrunched together really funny, and you couldn't read the words "are excluded".
So, now I have two strikes, the hardtops excluded and the order before June 23rd exclusion.
I'm glad I only paid $12.49 for the course (it was $24.99 but I found a 50% off coupon code). Well, at least I can turn it over to the CA insurance company and get a small discount that should get me back my $12.49 over the next three years.

Yes., why does it specifically state that it excludes 2015 Hardtops. The miniusa website says they are included. Where did you get that email from? Like previous poster, seems odd that they would know you wanted to purchase a mini unless you asked for a verification email from them.

But I'll still play dumb and try to get the $500 off -- I'll print out the unreadable PDF and give it to the dealer and let them try to figure it out.

Also, how did you get the course for only $12.49 after discount. Did you take the mature driver's course? FYI, I contacted my insurance agent (Mercury) and she said California policies don't participate in the discount program for online courses.

If I was running Mini heads would roll!
Who is the VP of Customer Service who did nothing while customer's fumed and took to the internet to vent their frustrations?
Who is the VP of VP of Communications who sent nothing out to the many many customers who were left in the dark as it when they would take delivery of their car?
Who is the VP of EPA certification who takes responsibility for the whole mess?
Who is the SVP in charge of the above VP's?
Who is the senior executive responsible for the SVP?
Shame on you Mini. Could it have been handles any worse?
I am not overly impacted - just amazed!

So, after the course was done (on a Sat), I called, and the person didn't know much about the whole program, but said they would email their manager who would check it out and get back to me.
I then did an online chat, and got the same person who told me it would qualify. He noted the request for the Mini discount, and said I would get the discount certificate via first class mail with the course completion paperwork for my insurance company. On Tuesday, I got an email with the PDF -- probably from the manager follow-up.
As far as CA insurance discount, I had already done an online course a year ago or so, and my insurance company did give me the discount. It's pretty small, and only on some of the coverage (don't remember which part). So, this time, I had my wife do the course so now she can get the discount on the car she is the primary driver.
I never received a pdf with any terms on it like you did. Only received a simple certificate with my name on it. Do you mind posting what you got minus the certificate itself.

The CA mature online course is $24.99. Then google for "driversed.com coupon" and see what you come up with -- I found a 50% off coupon the site took.
And you need to talk to you agent again. If you are 55 and over, it's a state law that they have to offer this small discount for completing a DMV qualified course, and the DriversEd.com online course is DMV qualified.

The 1-866-Ask-Mini help has been poor to terrible.
My dealer has been great presale, very good with the process and confusion switching from a 2014`to 2015 order (which I actually wanted for resale purposes -- but this was obviously before the extra 7 to 8 week delay), to a little bit disappointing during this waiting process (any and all communication has been me initiating it, and the last "any update on when I might see the car" was met with "we'll call you when it's here" and little beyond i).
In all, it's been a mixed bag, but I'm very excited the wait is over and thrilled with the deal I'm getting -- I had negotiated a very good discount, then got an extra $500 with the 2014/2015 required option mixup, and then my "accomodation discount" where I'm getting reimbursed for expenses I was going to be making -- I'm getting a very sweet deal that has the frugal component of my personality extremely happy and pleased.
I don't know the exact date I shall see my car, but I'm pretty sure it will be in the next six days or less -- and I'm excited again about having a new car soon.
