I was about to reply, "man you are parked close to that wall, how are you going to get out!" Then I realized you have one of those steering wheel on the wrong side Minis
Had to laugh at that, when in fact my wheel is on the correct side and on that day I was parked so far from the wall I was in danger of earning parker of the week.
I installed my Rear Tail Light Black Line Surrounds a year ago, and just swapped out my rear tail lights for the Union Jack LED tail lights. I remember when I first installed the surrounds that they don't fit as flush as the stock silver ones did. The upper outer edges on mine have a small gap towards the top that leaves about a 1 or 2 cm gap between the surround and the rear quarter panel. I got reminded of this when I installed the new rear lights. Am I just doing something wrong on the install, or is that the way the black surrounds fit for everyone else? I just don't see any way of pushing these down any further, and they do make a snap / click sound when you put them on, so I think they are clipped in correctly. I don't currently have a picture, but will try to take one later. Both sides have the same amount of gap, too. Thanks
I like the UJ rear tail lamps a lot. Just wondering if the black line rings are supposed to fit flush all the way around like the OEM chrome ones did. Mine have a little gap on each one on the upper outside of the ring. Same gap existed with my original tail lamps. Do you have an F56 sitting around with the black line rings on the rear that you can look at?
Thanks - I guess I'll need to run past the dealership and see what I'm doing wrong. I bought 51712285495KT from you all June 27, 2016. Just been living with those gaps ever since. Didn't think about it until I swapped out the lights. Probably just some real stupid thing on my part.
Mine look flush from behind, but are not from the side. The piece just isn't big enough. The lights are in correctly, and this was the case with the prior lights before I ever removed them.

Had the same problem when I wrapped the car. Look at the back tabs. I had to start the install on one side first (if I remember correctly bottom and left on right side) which have more tabs. Had to "hit" with palm of hand on top and right. Did not break tabs and have had them off again.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try that first, and if that doesn't work, I may just run by my local dealership, and see if a technician can slap them on correctly.
Can't seem to get rid of the gaps. Went by MINI dealership, and they couldn't either. My Union Jack rear lights appear identical to the lights they replaced, and the gaps existed on the original lights, too. I went to RealOEM, and they have a couple of different options. On the accessories page for my 2016 JCW they have Zierring Heckleuchte PIANO BLACK listed as part nos. 51712285495 & 51712285496. These are what I bought from ECS a couple of years ago. But, on the lighting page for my particular car they list Chrome ring, rear light, left and right BLACKLINE for cars with piano black exterior as part nos. 63217464171 & 63217464172. I noticed my dealer has a Carbon Edition on the lot, and those rings fit completely flush with the rear quarter panel. I tried looking up these blackline parts nos. but, they don't show up on any of the parts websites. I guess I'll call my dealer back tomorrow and see if they can figure out what the blackline rear rings are.
Hm. They look exactly like my not so cheap, not even inexpensive covers and gas cap.
Where did you find the part numbers? I searched several dealers and minpartsusa and couldn't fid them. Only tried the first door handle and the gas cap.
