Lighter/Power point

"Switch off the ignition and take the remote control with you when leaving the vehicle so that children cannot use the lighter and burn themselves".

Even though this is in the manual, it seems the power is on all the time. I would like to see what others are doing, other than pulling the plug, to shut down their electronic devices when turning the car off.

Thank you

I do believe it goes out after a few minutes. I haven't times it but I keep a USB charger plugged in and it has a blue LED on when there is power. It eventually shuts off.

The pertinent sentence in the 2014 manual is
"Sockets can be used for the operation of electrical
devices with the engine running or with
the ignition switched on."

There are many people who wish that the lighter socket was powered up when the car is switched off, and they are disappointed to find that it is not.

Interestingly, the USB port will provide power even when the car is off. I'm not sure for how long. I plugged my phone in before turning the car on the other morning (so it'd been off for 12+ hours at that point), and the phone immediately chirped and indicated it was charging.

I could see the 12V plug still having power in the same circumstance. I hope the car is smart enough to cut power when the battery gets low in such a case.

Thank you. Even though the plug in cord has a green indicator light I could not see it from outside the car.
