Jack not needed?!

I'd anyone notice the lack of a jack and lug wrench in their F56? I asked my MA and was told since I had run flats a jack wouldn't be needed. I guess I'm just old-school, but this offends me.

Not sure why you'd be offended? Nervous maybe, but offended??

Regardless, run-flat tires have been on many cars for at least 5 years now, and hardly new "news". If you don't trust RFTs (and they have got a lot better over the past years), then add a "goo kit" to your trunk. You would still need a jack and lug wrench, and many others have found creative ways to store such things. Search around, not peculiar to MINI, many other makers (BMW, Audi, etc) have RFTs as well. There is a lot of info out there. Myself, I don't worry about it, and have been using RTFs since about 2009 or so.

Yep, offended is not the word. I plan on getting extra wheels for winter treads which won't be runflats. I guess i will buy a small scissor jack. To be honest I never use the stock jack, but I do use the lug wrench. I love the F56 though. I owned an 08 Clubman and12 Roadster. So far the F56 exceeds my expectations though I only have 500 on it.

Do you have the S or the Justa?

The Justa comes with a spare and I believe has the jack and everything with it (drops down as I was explained), even with run flats. The S doesn't have room for a spare with the way its exhaust system is laid out (center pipes vs off to the side on the justa), so has no spare.

I had RFs on my 2007 MCS and replaced them with non RFs when they wore out at 28k. I bought a pump, Goo Kit, and stab it patch kit and stored them under the passenger seat just in case. Never needed it.

I have the F56 justa. It came with RFTs and has a spare and jack kit. I haven't actually checked out the spare and jack kit though.

The nice thing about the factory jack kit is that there's a spot for it. The mobility kit that's there without the spare doesn't have a jack. It does have a compressor, which would be nice to keep around.

I don't know how many F56's are out there in scrap. I bought the spare for my 2006 Cooper mailorder from a junk yard in Texas, and the jack kit that had the tool used to lower the spare. I had a goo and jack kit as well that I kept floating arounding.

I've had an X shaped lug wrench since I had my first car, it's getting a bit rusty. I like it because it spins when the lugs are loose.

I see there's is a folding one out there. That can't work, can it? Oh, I guess those sleeves go over the joints.

This is the mobility system that's there without the jack. On the 2006 there was a jack with the compressor.

Compressor? Pah! Real men use a foot pump and their cars have crank handles.....

Now, a DE-compressor is a real man's tool too - it lifts the exhaust valve on your pre-WWII single cylinder motorcycle engine so that you can kick the motor over without having to jump off a tall building to get up enough downward force.

The de-compressor has the additional function that when the motor doesn't start from your kick, you release the de-compressor lever which then gives the motor a decent chance to break your ankle with kick-back.

I have an S. The thing I want the most is the lug wrench. I'll get all the roadside fix it stuff when I replace the runflats. I guess I will whine to my dealer and see what I can get from them.

The lug wrench is easy to get, any auto parts store has a 17mm lug wrench. Just go buy one, they are not expensive.

Might want to consider looking at a lug socket.
Most of the vendors here on NAM carry them and they are coated around the outside so's not to scratch your wheels.
Breaker bar or torque wrench would be useful also.

Just an idea!
