Paint question. Chipping

Just ordered first mini after 2 years of looking. Now the wait is driving me crazy. Just wanted to know if anyone has had any issues with chipping paint on the hood from road debris/stones and such. Has anyone had the protective films installed by dealer or aftermarket, and did you think it was worth it. Also did the film have any negatives with how the paint finish looks?

Noticed two little chips on the edge of my driver door a couple days after getting my car home... Took possession of it at night, and I know that if I tried to say it came that way now the dealer would say I did it. I'll get touch up paint soon...I didn't opt for any of the paint treatments they offered, way too expensive for what it is. I'm sure you could get an aftermarket clear bra or vinyl wrap way cheaper...

I have about 3000 miles now on my MCS and feel like the paint is holding up very well. I just put the chrome brake ducts on my car so I was looking for chips and such while I did it and really didn't find any. I'm pretty impressed actually at the durability so far, I always seem to chip my cars pretty quickly.

I own a touch up paint company here in Los Angeles so when I do get a chip, I know how I'm handling it! In fact I'll probably make a video on it!

Chipping happens. Drive the car and enjoy it.

Yep, I'll take a few chips over a hazy, yellow clear bra any day. As stated, with a little practice (and the right tools) you can repair chips if they really bother you.

I have had my car for a couple months now and I have not located any chipping yet. I have done nothing special to my car besides washing and waxing.

I got one chip by the headlight driving it home from the dealership, but that's the only one after 2,800 miles. Not too bad so far.

All cars will chip over time if it's out through a lot of highway driving. If you're worded about it have a clear bra installed. They have come down in price, and the quality and finish of the new clear bra material is amazing compared to the old stuff.

I asked this question in another thread, but I'll ask it here as well. I've heard folks installing the hood stripes ABOVE the clear bra. I've already got my hood stripes, so would I have to spring for all new ones, or would the clear bra place take them off and put them back on? Any advice would be appreciated, as I'm considering an Xpel install.

Thank you

Thanks. I try to lay low on the site regarding paint things because I really am a F56 fan and am not here to have our company make money. But on the other hand, I try to hook up whoever from this site orders. I'll make sure your order gets extra special attention.
