yeah you see that all the time with car dealers nowadays. I wonder if I call the bmw of NA number that left me a message, maybe they'll give me a discount on a bmw since I'm leaning towards them now D:

So I got another call from BMW of America it was a MINI rep. The general manager from my dealer forwarded them my complaint. The only thing she said she could offer me was $500 towards an accessory

I have heard NOTHING, other than a couple of out-of-the-office auto responses. This is NOT making me happy. I know some people are getting some satisfaction; others like myself are just getting screwed.

MINI USA, are you listening?

I actually had a USAA certificate for $1,100 off MSRP but the dealers don't have to honor it and right now they are not. The certificate is only good on in-stock cars, so ordering a custom car you are at the mercy of the dealership. They did give us $250 off eventually. I'm not sure where Truecar gets its data. Some people may be getting good deals on in-stock cars while others are paying MSRP. Like all things, YMMV.

I've just learned that my car was built on August 1st (a Friday car, uh oh), it had been scheduled for the week of August 18th. It's hard to say if this was moved earlier for any reason in particular.

It's now waiting for a boat, according to MINI Canada.

No worries. As far as I know robots don't drink. Unless you are a Bender Unit.

Two parkades full of MINIs at Southampton.

If my car doesn't get on the Don Juan on the 9th I think it will wait until the 24th.
According to the schedules, WW goes to Halifax and K-Line does not.

So I ended up taking my deposit back from Mini and putting it on a new BMW 328ix fully loaded. They matched me the same monthly payment with no extra down!

Just out of curiosity, was it the same dealer "family?"

Nope. I kinda got fed up with my original mini dealer. They never really gave me updates I had to keep checking on things myself. Plus they didn't "do" loaner cars. So I didn't wanna take the chance.

Congratulations Mathewww on your new BMW! Your situation regarding your purchase is your business (as is the financial aspect) and no one should be here to judge that. It sounds like you are very happy in the end and that is all that matters. If being part of the MINI community is meant to be, another opportunity will fall into place in the future.

I don't know if it is the factory shut down or the EPA problem but from W&W shipping line their next ship does not leave Southampton until Aug 25th to the East coast USA and next one after that is Sep 8th and then looks like after that it is a more regular schedule.

There are 2 K-line ships leaving between now and the 25th. W&W is only one shipping company. And they ship many cars besides Mini, so the ships will continue to run whether Mini's are on them or not. I'd expect they will still ship cars over, because once the EPA delay is cleared they still need to sell them.

That's actually interesting. Just using Brunswick as an example for the arrival port, they've always had 2-3 per week like clockwork. In August they have 2 week gap and then they resume 2-3 per week again. WW schedule seems to work like a Swiss watch. K-Line schedule is more like the watch out of a guy's trunk. Reason for gap? Who knows, but it is an aberration from what we've seen for the past months.

Hmmm... comparing all the arrival ports, of the US east coast ports that receive MINIs, it seems only Brunswick has the 2 week gap on WWL. New York and Baltimore don't have the gap. Meh, who knows...

Let me be the first to welcome the west coast Mini's on the Elektra to the US.

May our stay in quarantine be as short as possible

The Elektra and my 2015 MCS have arrived to Port Hueneme in CA. Now the wait begins for me. Let's hope they resolve this EPA issue sooner that later.

Maybe they ran out of room to hold cars?

Of course they matched the monthly payment - entry level BMW family sedan vs full of personality, adorable Mini. Of course people on a BMW forum would say the opposite though. Good luck and hope you get a Mini someday!

In the end, the $ all goes to BMW so they probably don't really care what you buy as long as it shows up in their quarterly sales report and not someone else's.
