F55/F56 The Wait Begins
Dude congratulations. You're the first person I've seen order the F56. I even asked on the Mini2 site if any Europeans had ordered one. I drove a JCW Coupe yesterday in Scottsdale, equipped almost exactly like I want. I'm half temped to buy it and half temped to wait and see/drive the F56 after reading the reviews posted recently. It won't look anywhere near as cool but the brand new model aspect tempts me. I'm not one of these people who wants to wait a year or two for them to get the bugs out. I figure they already did that. These aren't motorhomes after all.
there's a few of us Brits on TotalMINI who put orders in early December
Still got around 2 weeks for mine to arrive :(
Woo hoo
I'm pleased to report that my status has changed from "On Order" to "Scheduled for Production". I've been dutifully checking my status each day, so it's nice to see some progress being made. *HUGE SMILE*
T.
It was indeed a longgggggggg wait, but it finally ended today with the delivery of my f56S.
I'm still trying to figure out what some of the controls are for, but there's plenty of time for that in the future. I had almost a four-hour drive home from the dealer with plenty of twisty turnies included. It indeed exceeded my expectations! I'm babying it until I change the oil out at 1500 miles, so I never gave it full throttle nor exceeded 4,000 RPM, but, WOW, the new BMW motor is both powerful and super responsive.
Yes, it was one of the early ones with the oil filter housing gasket problem, but my dealer reports that that was corrected at the VOT. I guess that's why it took eight days to get from the dock to my dealer who's only three hours away from Baltimore?
Just in case you haven't figured it out yet, I AM TOTALLY STOKED!

Congrats! Mine is at the port waiting on a ship to bring her across the pond....there's one arriving tonight and leaving in the morning but right now I'm not assigned to any vessels yet. the waiting is the worst!!
Congratulations! That is awesome. Glad your MINI got the gasket fix done.
I guess by all rights, my own MINI-S should have been fixed by now, since it was one of the first ones delivered to the dealer with gasket issue. It's been sitting at the dealership since 3/24.
This is the 2nd F56-S reported here that has already had the gasket fix done, and as of yesterday my dealer had not received the gasket. I am really hoping/expecting to get a call today that the gasket is in.
