Totally agreed with everything you said. I'll miss most of the quirks, but I'm sure it will still be a blast to drive.

I know it is easy to get caught up in the excitement of a new generation launch -- heck, I was all over the R56 -- but MINI does not have a very good track record out of the box. The early R53s were trouble, too. I'm just sayin'.

VERY smart!!
Knew a few folks that got "new" or rebuilt motors on months (even WEEKS) old r56 cars in the first few months....nothing kills the new car smell than 2 months of payments while the car sits in a dealer garage....waiting for parts that are not yet available.....

Good luck with whatever you choose.
Agreed, it's a tradeoff. I had one of the First R56's in the country and had loads of problems with it. 29 days in the shop in the first year. Fortunately I had a pretty good dealer that took care of me. I know keeping me happy sold them quite a few cars as I turned multiple friends and coworkers onto the MINI brand. And I wasn't complaining at driving JCW's, Convertibles, 3 series and such while I was waiting for them to sort it all out.

I'm hoping my current dealer provides at least the same level of service.

Zippy. How were you out of pocket? If it was faulty manufacturing our design.
