Front end vibration under braking

So, this just recently started out of the blue but i'll give a bit more insight.

So, I was gone for the month of june, left the car parked, came back, had to recharge the battery as I didnt unplug it. Once charged, started right up and no issues. After about 3 weeks, I had to leave again, this time for 2 weeks. Didnt disconnect the battery as I didnt think 2 weeks would kill it, but it did. So, I replaced the battery, (Feb of 2025 was 3 years that bought it). Car started up but this time, while braking, light, medium or hard, it vibrates. Obviously the harder I brake, or the faster I brake the more it vibrates. Now, after those 4 weeks I was away, that didnt seem to affect the brakes. But when I cam back from being away for 2 weeks, well that did affect my braking. I did some research and the usual, warped rotors, brake pads, caliper, etc.

The vibrations only happen as I brake, When I take off, nothing, as I am driving, nothing. Only when applying the brakes.

I have never had any rotor, pad or caliper issues.

Oh and it seems to be coming from the front passenger side.

My gut would say corrosion on the rotors from sitting, but without pictures....

I am with Nik on this one. Where your pads 'shadow' the rotor, there will be less surface rust than the exposed areas of the rotor from sitting over an extended period. This would impact the friction coefficient in that area of the rotor and could create the vibration you are feeling. This should reduce over time as the pad/rotors clean themselves up, but that all depends on driving style, rotor and pad materials, etc. Most brake vibrations are created by the rotor/pad interface and variations in friction vs a warped rotor for daily or occasional drivers, IMHO. You could have the shop do a light pass across the rotor faces to clean off any uneven pad deposits to see if that helps smooth out the brakes. Just don't forget to do a quick pad bedding run, so you can redeposit an even coating on the fresh surface. Good luck.

I got around to working on the car on fri, the brake pads were shot, I dont even know how I let it get to that, as I am pretty good with "knowing" when I need new pads. ( I record all the work I do), the front rotors definitely could use a replacing, but I did strip the rotor screw, so I have a extractor set coming in tomorrow, so, as long as the extractor works as it should, new rotors and pads will be in tomorrow. Slides were nice and smooth and the piston responded well, so I have eliminated the caliper as a issue. time will tell!
