hi ..... my air conditioning stopped working this weekend......blows cool air but not nearly cold enough to make driving in just 75 degree weather comfortable....... 2016 4 door automatic transmission with the auto climate control which i generally leave off and control manually.

Associated symptoms are

a) when i press the AC button to 'on' and then dial the fan to be on high speed, the fan will come on but be like on a slow setting....even after 15 minutes or longer ...but then if I switch the AC button to 'off', leaving the fan to stay on high speed the fan will come on fully to the highest speed....and then once the fan is blasting on high speed if i press the AC button back to be 'on' the fan will stay blasting at the high speed

b) when i press the AC button 'on'or 'off', the tach needle does not move ...so i am assuming that the compressor is not working .....does this sound like a reasonable assumption?

I will be calling the dealer tomorrow.....but any ideas as to the problem? if the system simply needs a recharge, will the compressor sense that the charge is low and won't turn itself on?

 

going to dealer today .....since the original posting, i've noticed that with the AC on, and fan on low speed, the vents on the driver's side will put out cooler air so the AC is working somewhat but the vents on the passenger's side put out only outside temperature air.....weird .....also now the fan does come on as high speed, sometimes, with the AC on

 

just came back from dealer ...Innskip in warwick ....very nicely identified the problem which was low on freon, by recharging with the dye and replaced a defective Shredder Valve, under warranty, and now all is well
