Possible Electronic Dipstick Malfunction.

We have been getting low engine oil messages. 2.0L turbo.

So I added only 4oz at a time. Sometime it goes out and sometime I have to add another 4oz for a total of 8oz.

Well today was it. I decided to change the oil and measure meticulously the amount out. just under 6 qts. Mmmm... WTF.....low oil my **$*#.

Just did a complete oil change with new filter. I let the oil drain for hours...every drop. Added like it says 5 litre or 5.28 qts. 5w30. I will check after a good drive the reading...

what are your thoughts....

My thought is get this checked out at the dealer. Too much oil & you can cause trouble. Oil cavitation & possible blown out seals.

It's not common but I have seen an oil level sender unit go bad before. Typically if the message keeps coming back (more than once) within a 750 mile range its enough for a dealer to dig into it.

Definetly, a bad sensor... I was told they have to remove the front bumper to replace the sensor...WT...My patience is getting thin with MINI's...

Remember, I read car customers get peeved at a ton of little things rather than on large one...

Also, as a note, MINI customer service is the pits. I did have a very nice person, who actually drives one, but the policy on getting things done is made so you lose your patience and then give up. It works cause I about to..
