torque settings

torque settings

can anybody tell me the torque settings for the cylinder head and camshaft sproket bolts

On the R56 they were:


cam gear 75 ft-lb 102 nm
10 headbolts 30 ft-lb 40 nm


Why are you torqueing these? Love to hear of other "explorers" adventures...

it overheated and done the head gasket, are you sure 30lbs for the head bolts is there anymore stages after this ?

So the Bentley has 3 torques listed. Looks like there are 3 different lengths of head bolts? it also says to replace the bolts.

m8x35mm is 22.1 ft-lbs
m8x95mm is 11 ft-lbs then additional 90 deg then another additional 90 deg
m8x145mm is 22.1 ft-lbs then additional 90 deg then another additional 90 deg

The camshaft sprocket bolts are different for the intake (VANOS) and exhaust. it also says to replace the bolts.
Intake (VANOS) is 15 ft-lbs then additional 180 deg
Exhaust is 14.7 ft-lbs plus additional 90 deg
