F54S brake pads?

My car's got 23k miles on it finally. I'm not 100% sure how the maintenance schedule works but the maintenance minder says I need to replace my front brake pads in about a thousand miles.

I had a bad experience letting a dealer work on my VW brakes (they stripped one of the caliper bolts and just left it that way...figured it out quite a few years later when I went to do the pads myself, sort of frightening that after trying to unscrew the stripped bolt, I ended up just grabbing it with pliers and sliding it right out! Not very comforting for what could have happened...). So now I always do my own brakes ;-).

Anyway, I figured I'd try out some not-MINI pads. I'm looking at Outmotoring for example and they sell EBC brand. But I'm a little confused. I'm looking at the Yellow Stuff pads ( https://www.outmotoring.com/MINI-Coo...r-dp4039r.html ). They say to use model DP42227R which allegedly fits the F54, F55, F56, and F57...but then at the bottom of the page it says "To be announced: F54 and F54S. Our supplier does not yet have parts available for these models." When I look at MiniMania they don't list any aftermarket pads as fitting the F54.

Basically I'm wondering: does the F54S use the same caliper and brake pads as all the other Gen3 MINIs? Meaning I could use any aftermarket pad that fits the F56? Or are they different, and is there really no aftermarket options from the online places for an 'S' model F54? Thanks for any tips.

Welp. I guess I'm answering my own question after hunting around a bit.

Looking at other EBC pads, it looks like the F54S, F60, and F60S all share the same caliper design (EBC 'Green Stuff' pads have a specific model meant to fit all three vehicles: https://www.outmotoring.com/ebc-gree...056-22227.html ).

So hunting for EBC yellow stuff pads that would fit the F60 I figured out that the model number is DP42245R for yellow stuff pads. Looks like ECS Tuning carries them, so that's spiffy. Odd that our other favorite stores haven't caught on to the full fitment guide.

Yep we added a bunch of EBC for newer models.

FWIW, I have been running the Power Stop Z23 pads front/rear for the past few years and have been happy with them. I swapped them in before a track day, along with some RBF600 fluid with mine back in 2018. They offer other compounds too, but I have found them friendly on the street and held up well.
