Oem cross bar instructions

Was mounting my ski rack to my cross bars. Just realized that one of the bars is slightly longer than the other. I would assume the longer goes to the back. Anyone know for sure?

if your talking about the cross bars themselves then they will have the location printed inside each foot where the screw is. Ie: it will have a small picture to give an idea of location and then say something like FR = front right or RR = rear right

hope this helps.

Yeah that helps a lot! How cryptic without the instruction. I can’t imagine that right or left side makes any difference. I had the rear bar mounted to the front before with no problem before. If it does, I installed my Thule backwards (I may blow a gasket). It was annoying AF to figure out after the measuring where to cut the rubber strip that they are different lengths... they weren’t centred. My ocd alarm was blaring.

Front and back clearly matters, the larger bar goes to the back.

What I found more annoying was trying to use a tape measure to get the right placement for the crossbars on the roof rails. My wife is a teacher and a perfectionist so I couldn’t just eyeball it.

My OEM ones from 2011 have little air foils on the bottom of the front rail. That's how I tell them apart. I don't know if the latest OEM ones have that or not.
