Magnaflow, Flowmaster or JCW Exhaust + tune

All,

I have a 2016 Clubman S and would like to change out the exhaust. Originally, I thought about the JCW Exhaust and tune which will come in around $2K installed + the time to get it to a dealer (3+ hours away and 2 days to keep the vehicle to test the flash, etc.). Pros-JCW, sport/track modes, tune, and JCW badging. Cons-price, time, location.

The second options are getting to be more appealing. Currently, I have a JB4 installed and a BMS CIA. Nearby, there is a custom muffler shop with a great reputation that makes their own pipes when needed. The do a lot of work on Corvettes, Camaros and Challengers, but admittedly have never worked on a MINI. I have no doubt that they can do it, it will be just choosing which of the two brands they carry (magnaflow or flowmaster) and which type to get.

Pros-with the JB4 it is almost like having the tune. Not sure how much I will miss there. It will be unique, especially around here, should sound awesome. And with the money saved, I can get a Forge intercooler or put towards JCW brakes or aftermarket suspension.Cons-it is not JCW, but then again neither is my Clubman.

My questions: Does anyone have experience with magnaflow or flowmaster on a MINI or other cars? Any advice or recommendations for going down this path and what else I might need to consider?

Thanks!

I'll be doing a full Dinan setup once my Clubman gets delivered in a few weeks

Remus has received good reviews.

Magnaflow supposedly developed a flow-through muffler to replace the factory suitcase.

I've also heard of people cutting the innards out of the stock muffler, and there is a thread around here somewhere of a home brew by-pass, with valving that's pretty slick.

There is ongoing debate regarding elimination of the forward resonator; some say it makes the car drone.

Really depends on your goal. All free-flow exhaust mods will give a bit less back pressure and, theoretically, add a little bit more torque/hp to the mix.

Mostly, intakes and exhaust mods are about sound, with some possible power gains.
