2020 US-Spec has power folding comfort access mirrors enabled
Forgive me if this has already come to light but yesterday I pulled the trigger and bought a 2020 F54 JCW. I’m an avid lover of bimmercode and was noting all the changes I wanted to code. I went out to the garage to start the process and out of pure curiosity I held the comfort access button in and low and behold the mirrors auto-folded in. I thought I was tripping so I preceded to try with the lock button on the remote and same results, the mirrors auto folded in.
I know this is standard fare for the European Spec cars but is this something new that Mini is enabling from factory for the US Spec cars? I was pleasantly surprised. Only downside is the time delay is set pretty high, around 3 seconds. Doesn’t auto fold immediately, you must hold either button in for it to activate.
Fold delay can be coded. The trick is to get it so, after coding global window closing, you can lock the doors, then fold the mirrors, then close the windows/sunroof. Half-second delay on mirror folding seems to work well for the sequencing. Great fun.
And don't forget the passenger-side mirror tilt adjustment when the car is in reverse, as well as the door handle lights turning on in reverse.
And the ejection seat function.... but you have to know the secret handshake for that one, and it has to be coded at midnight when the moon is full. Or so said the car salesman who also told me $2,000 over MSRP was a fair price to pay for a MINI.

I'm sure he was the first test candidate for the ejection seat.....

I have seen this mentioned a few times. However, I have to ask why? The door handle lights are no where near bright enough to help increase the overall illumination of the area behind one's MINI.

Well, my Clubman lives under an awning behind our garage and it is parked by backing in very, very close to the garage doors. There is a divider between the garage doors that protrudes a few inches, so it's close quarters and tight maneuvering to get the Clubman situated just right. At night the passenger door lights do, indeed, provide additional illumination that, when combined with the moderately titled passenger mirror, helps a lot.
But, the main reason for doing the coding of the down-lights is it looks cool. And because we can. IMHO.
In this photo, the trained eye will observe that the sunroof is tilted open in vent mode and the mirrors are folded in. This was accomplished by holding down the door lock button long enough to lock the car/arm the alarm and fold the mirrors. Another half a second of keeping the button depressed and the roof would close. It is a fine art. I have about 90% success -- it is so defeating when that roof starts to close before I release the door button. Sometimes, when I miscalculate and the roof closes, I go around to the back and do a swift kick to open one of the rear doors, just to keep the universe in balance. Swift kick never fails!!
