replacing OEM brembo pads

Hi everyone,
New member here. Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on regarding the OEM brembo pads. I was attempting to replace the front brake pads on my '17 F54 JCW and I noticed that when I tried to pull the pads out of the caliper I encountered an unexpected blockage. The OEM brembo pads had some tabs attached to the backing plate that go into the brake piston, thus preventing them from being pulled out, even with the piston fully retracted. (see attached image link for said tabs):

I'm just wondering if anyone else has already encountered this and if so, how the issue was resolved (ie removal of the tabs or how the pad was removed/replaced). Thanks in advance everyone!

Weird, thats a new one to me. Ive had Brembos for years on other cars but never have seen those inserts. I thought maybe the anti-squeal plate came off but that is definitely not the case
