Took the Little Missus for a quick grocery run this morning in the Clubby. She was about to reach for the handle on the right rear door. I suavely waved her off. This was THE MOMENT.

The pressure was on. However, confident that the info on this thread would not fail me in my big moment, I did not panic.

That door flew open after my very first properly placed fast kick.

I got a kiss from my ever-lovin'. After over 30 years of marriage, one takes it when and where one can get it, even in a market parking lot.

6 for 6 and a happy wife who insisted that I thank those who made this miracle possible.

So, thank you, again, fellow Clubmen and Clubwomen. Together, we are invincible!!

No livin' with me now. Yesterday a store clerk was helping me load some purchases into the back of my Clubman. Both my hands were full as were his.

Yup. Did the fast kick. Rear door opened on first try. Did a second swift kick and the second door opened.

The clerk said, "Man, how'd you do that? That's cool."

My moves are getting so fast, smooth and subtle I'm scaring myself...

Almost as much fun as standing 10 feet away from my car while watching the mirrors fold and the sunroof close.

Later today I may go out and watch the grass grow -- who knew the little things in life could be so entertaining???

Kick Update

The wifey and I are returning to the Clubman after enjoying coffee at our favorite French-Vietnamese bakery. As we approach our Clubby in the parking lot, there are 3 older gentlemen pointing at the car and nodding and chatting away in Vietnamese.

One guy asks, "Your car? Nice."

Without hesitation, my wife does a couple of swift kicks under the rear bumper.

Nods and smiles of approval all around as the rear barn doors do their thing, revealing the stunning and spacious interior of our Clubman.

Just another day of spreading the joy.

I Think I Messed Up

Took She Who Must Be Obeyed to Trader Joe's for a quick stop yesterday. I waited in the car. Wifey comes out with bags in each hand so, being ever-helpful, I reached down and pressed the footwell button to open one of the rear doors. She loads in the grocery bags and says thanks and hops in the car. We take off and she casually says, "I have my MINI fob in my purse. I coulda done the kick thing and opened the door myself."

I think I detected the slightest hint of discontent in her voice. One never knows.

Nor should you want to know in this situation Just remember, no good deed goes unpunished, as so they say...

Been a while since we visited this thread.

Today, as I was leaving the marina with my tool bag in hand after some serious bilge crawling, the people who have a boat in the slip next to mine were parked next to me and they were about to pull their car out to leave too.

He had his window down and asked me if I'd successfully accomplished my tasks. I replied in the affirmative and asked him if he'd gotten everything done he'd set out to do today.

After listening to his long story about his bilge pump wiring problem, while still holding my tool bag, I looked at him from the rear of my Good Truck and said, "Watch this."

One swift kick and the right rear barn door swung open like a champ. I loaded in my trusty tool bag.

He said, "Impressive, but you only got one door open."

To which I replied, "Oh, you wanna see it again???" At which point I administered another swift kick and, of course, the left barn door opened on cue.

To add a touch of showmanship, I waved my fingers at the left door during that momentary pause between kick and the actual opening. As if I were performing magic. Which, perhaps I was.

His wife, who was sitting shotgun, began to do a bowing motion toward me.

I feel it was a show of well-earned respect.

Speed and location, plus confidence -- the winning combination. Thank you again gearhead60 for showing us the way... shazam!!

Temporary turn off kick

I just picked up my 2021 JCW Clubman and love it have mastered the kick but found it very annoying while trying to hand wash the car and I have to get out of the way multiple times and then shut the door. Is there anyway to temporarily disable this really only need it for car washing purposes. Would really suck if this accidentally got open going through a car wash as well 😞

We've all done it. Friggin' key fob. I started putting the fob far away from where I wash. Only couldn't find the fob twice so far. Last time it was under a drying towel in the garage. But I did the kick at the grocery again today. Gotta take the bitter with the sweet.

Wait until your doors fly open when you're at a stop light.

Friggin' key fob
