RHD

I don't know how many of you were at the Dragon in 2006,but there was a red R53 there from Austrailia that was rhd,he was parked in the parking lot in the vendor area.

It may be possible to order one....

You can order a 2008 JEEP Wrangler in RHD - don't believe me - go build one on the JEEP Site.

Krut is correct, and it is the USA site not the UK site. FINALLY!! I drove 'em for 15 years & most boats are rhd too. There is nothing to driving rhd, feels automatic to do so. njp

Now THAT is interesting!!! I should call and see if I can get an answer. I'll be so bummed if I could have gotten one. Of course I didn't even think of it at the time, but still. I keep thinking about the one I saw and still wish I would have flipped a u-turn talked to the guy.

Right Hand Drive

I went to my dealer today to buy an extra window visor but for the passenger side. They couldn't find it in their system but one man suggested they go look at the right hand drive model they had in for repairs.

Mine is RHD, but I live in Australia. To my knowledge we don't have anything like AMVIV or MOTD here. I know it would cost a bit but do you think its possible for me to ship my Mini over for those events, and still be able to drive it. I realize I would have to get it registered. Just an idea.

So, does anyone know with which vendor they were affiliated with or parked near?

I will find them

Why do people want RHD cars in the US anyway?

I've driven RHD cars in LHD countries, and I prefer it with the driver's side matching the country.

Because it is unique and different. it is worth going in to eat instead of using drive-thrus just to have that feeling of people seeing your car with no left hand side driver ; )

I agree, it's interesting and unique to be RHD....although I do prefer shifting with my right hand (right-handed).

It's just "cool". And honestly I probably wouldn't think much of it if it were on a Ford, but MINI's get quite a bit of attention and to have it be RHD would be a real attention getter. I want to contact MINI and see what they say about ordering a RHD car for the U.S.

I own both. LHD Cooper S 2005, RHD Classic Mini 1991. The Classic gets everybodies attention, just because it's a classic, the RHD is an added bonus and yes, it's fun to drive as well. Just ask any mailman about it LOL.

The newer MINI might get your attention more if it were RHD as well, if attention is what your after. The new MINIs seem to have gotten all the attention there ever going to get by now. So MOD the car if your an attention hog like myself, and enjoy it.

I would be interested to know if a new MINI could be ordered in RHD, as the last time I inquired, the answer was a firm "NO".

Shifting either left or right handed doesn't matter to me... as I still can not find second gear.

I've never had a problem shifting with either hand. Though I have a theory that its easier if you learnt to shift with your off (non-dominant) hand. I'm mainly right handed and learnt in RHD cars so I was shifting with my off hand, I never had a problem when I got to LHD cars. Conversely my wife is left handed and leant in LHD cars, she never had a problem with RHD cars (at least as far as shifting goes).

Nothing like going through a restraunt drive through in reverse with a RHD car. It always gets laughs!

You also forgot, some of us are southpaws (I am too!). I've learned to shift right handed but, it oddly feels "better" to do it with my other hand. I'd looove to have a RHD R55 but I don't know why the government won't let us have that option. Does anyone have a RHD R55 in the US or Canada? PLEASE post a pic!

I forgot to mention: suppose you're running late and, whoops, you forgot to check your mail. Imagine how easy it is to grab the mail and run! No need to park on the opposite side of the street, look both ways for traffic, run to the mailbox and back! Also great for grabbing the morning paper before taking off for work. I sometimes forget to do this.

Sooo, is anyone on this thread left-handed like me? Would you buy RHD if the option was available? I would.
