... though it would be kinda funny to see Tess floating away down the stream with abu behind the wheel... kinda like Phil Silvers in It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World...

Very jealous... you guys are gonna have the trip of a lifetime. Enjoy. I'll just be making "yet another" boring trip to the stupid old Dragon. (yawn)

Awesome, but but pales by comparison to the Alps...

Alright, fellas, version 4.1 of the MITA08 route is done! The newest addition was some scenic routing once down into Switzerland between Lake Luzern and Sarnersee. Since Abu got some input from his neighbor, I'm glad that we're MINI-holics instead of Navigator freaks when it comes to turning around from the vista (4th point on Day 1)!!! That road could be ugly as I've been on some of these Suisse farm roads already!

During the planning of this trip, I've learned some interesting facts about the Google Earth, Google Maps and TomTom Go routing algorithms. The first is that GE and GM do not plan the same routing between the two programs. Granted that the driver is responsible for the safe operation blah blah blah... However, if you don't have a Garmin or TomTom to assist in the navigation, using a printed version of GE/GM route could cause some confusion on the mountain whilst enroute. TomTom wasn't without it's own faults, either, because it could not handle the routing up to the vista on Day 1 as part of an itinerary. It could do the routing as part of the "I'm here and want to go there." type planning, however, for whatever reason, I was unable to get Tom to recreate the route for an itinerary. Hmmm... something to play around with later.

So, there ya go, fellas, get on some of this and join the fun. Like Blimey said, this is a once in a life time trip for those Amerikaners and, as you can probably tell, I'm getting amped for this trip. Enjoy!

Cheers!!

abu,

Where're we linking up? Your place, enroute or in Meiringen? I'm getting over-amped about this trip and cannot wait to do this thing! I'll be bringing a buddies Garmin 305 and my GMRS radios. Anything else that you can think of, besides the obvious (Maggie, camera, family)?

Cheers, m8!!

Wait -- there are other reasons for doing all this, other than to taunt Blimey?

Oh, that's right -- to get chicks.

Now, abu. Let's play nice with the special kids and their short bus, OK? We don't make fun of those less fortunate people who happen to be locationaly challenged

Cheers!!

Blimey, I have a consolation price packaged up to send to you. Because, well, you know, the Dragon comes in a distant second when compared to the Swiss Alps....

Loved the recipe. Sounds so very German.

No, actually, I'm sending you a new engine for your Mini. See, the one you have in there now is just too much. It's just a waste of fine German engineering, for use on your silly little highways.

So, I got a padded envelope and I'm sending you a new V8. It is full of hot air, makes a lot of noise and is all bling, but won't really go fast -- I think it'll be perfect for you!

(and check out this bad boy!)

Love the V8. And, yeah, the Tobacco King rocks... but even if the MINI were RWD, there wouldn't be room behind the axle for the Turbonique rocket drive...

Dropped your consolation price off at the post office today.

Guy working there asked me how I wanted to send it -- autobahn, or highway.

You should get it in about 8 years, since I sent it highway rate.

Geesh... I'm gonna be SOOOOOO glad when you're sentenced to at least a few years of 55mph speed limits for your crimes against me. That day is coming soon.

I head that it's 45 in Hawaii -- one missed turn, and you're in the Pacific.

of course, this weekend, it's "one missed turn and... well, you're still in the Swiss Alps and still driving roads that are 10.8 billion times better than the iguana, er, I mean, the dragon."
