Stock Stereo--no power after fuse tab install

Here's the deal. I was going to tap the stereo fuse to use that 12 volt power supply for a new gauge. Went to Radio Shack, got a fuse tab tap....plugged that in with the stereo fuse. Hooked the line up to the tab that ran to the gauge for power. Turned the car on....and.....nothing. No power to the gauge and now...even after replacing the fuse....no power to the stereo.

Is there a chance that I blew the stock stereo? I dont see how this would happen....any other suggestions as to what the issue might be?

My belief is that the tab spread open the connection point that the fuse comes in contact with to a point where they no longer make a solid connection with the fuse.
