MCAW installed, finally!

I installed my MCAW today, it works exceptionally well.

After a lost order, then an out of stock canceled order; I was finally able to get one in hand on Friday.

I tried the blind, thru the back install. The first portion went really well, but I bent a few pins trying to get the MCAW into the back of the toggle switch panel. I ended up pulling the switch panel and honestly, should have done that originally. It simply was no big deal to pull it and re-install it.

I am a happy auto-up MCS driver!

Just interested, which programming option did you use?

I may change mine later, but I went with option 4 on the driver side (so I can be controlling and manage the passenger window as well). And then with 2 on the passenger side, so no one is surprised.

this is why this module is so great.. you can program per your
preference.

i drive my MCS solo 99% of the time, so one push up works great
for me. feels factory.

I removed the toggle panel myself from the start. It's the easiest way, and only took me 30 minutes. Only 10 minutes more than the manufacturer's 20 minute install time. No big deal.

Takes me 2-3 minutes to install a MINI circuit - but I've had some practice

Your hands are probably smaller than mine.

I would have been done in five, if I could have gotten it inserted without bending pins. But all in all, it was an easy install. Actually getting it to me was the hardest part.

My Stewart Warner gauges already plug into the back of the switch panel. Will the MCAW fit and work and keep the gauges working also?

If you don't get a response, you might want to post this on the MCAW support forum.

I just did my install the otehr day too. And both my girlfriend (pretty much the permanent right seater in my MCS) and I love it. SO HANDY.

But, I am having a little trouble getting the DSC Auto-off to work. I have gone thru all of the different programming options, but DSC still doesn't turn off. Hmmmm.....Does anyone have any suggestions? I have also posted something in the MCAW support forums.

I have a 2006 MCS

The MCAW was my first mod, I had to buy the delux version because they never had the basic version available.
I installed it, took me forever cause I was blind and couldnt get the dang connector off the toggle panel.
After I finally got it off, the rest of the installation was a synch.

I love the MCAW, but I only have 1 complaint.

My complaint is the window will not go up after I turn the car off.
Usually if I turn the car off and before I open the doors I can either open/close the sunroof, open/close the windows. But once I installed the MCAW I can no longer close the windows. I can open the windows fine, and open/close the sunroof. But am unable to close the window.

Does anyone else get annoyed with this?

I had the same issue on the purchase and that delayed getting it to me. I had to place the order twice to actually get the basic version. The first order was cancelled since they were out of stock.

I haven't seen the issue on the up with power off, but I'll be sure to check it out.

This indeed was a design consession with the Deluxe. Originally it affected both up and down of the Windows with the ignition off. We were able to rework the firmware in the Deluxe to allow window down with the ignition off but with the current design are unable to get the Window up function squeezed in the firmware/hardware.

This is not an issue with the Basic circuit. The design concession on the deluxe was taken into consideration when the basic was created.

Happy Haolidays-
Randy

The original is in stock - both basic and less basic versions - for typically same or next day shipping ...

As I understand it, the Delux MCAW has the DSC as default off, and no programming or mod is required. Got mine installed, got the windows doing what I want, but the DSC is still on after start. I bought it specifically to default the DSC to off after start up.

Defective unit perhaps?

Don't ask me to go to the MCAW forum for answers, didn't see any, and don't wish to join the forum.

Your understanding is wrong. DSC Auto-off must be turned on in programming.

Visit the MCAW FAQ page and read the question - "I just installed my MCAW and programmed it. The DSC Auto-off function does not shut off DSC. Can you help me out?"

Best Regards-
Randy

Might want to inform OutMotoring then, as they informed me that their understanding is the DSC Off is a built in Default. This might be where the confusion comes from in the programming guide.

"DSC Auto-off (no end-user modification required)
When configured for this function, the MCAW will automatically turn off DSC to yourMINI, 3 seconds after the vehicle is started. See appendix A."

It begins with "no end-user modification required," which is enough for many people to stop going any further.
