Strange Radio Fuse Problem any sugestions?

Ok here is my problem, I was driving last last and all the sudden the radio went dead, I have a fuse tap on the 5 AMP radio fuse so I thought maybe some of the wiring i did was shorting some where so i removed the tap and put the fuse by itself in, still didnt work, I noticed the fuse terimal was a little loose, probably from the extra metal of the fuse tap, so i turned the pins a little go get it to fit and now it started working again, but cut out later as i went over a bump. so i go home into the garage to dig a little deeper, pretty much this is where i am and really confused.

-If i leave out the 5AMP fuse and put the other radio fuse (15AMP) it works fine

-If while the radio is on with the 15AMP in and I put the 5amp in it will work but if i remove the 5 AMP it will turn of.

-If the radio is working with both fuses in and i turn the volume way up it will cut out

-If i turn it way up with just the 15AMP in it will work fine.

Does anybody know what the to different fuses serve, plus if I remove the fuse box is there anyway to access the terminals so i can tighten the connections or is it a sealed box?

Thanks for the help
Shawn

The radio gets a permanent supply and an ignition switched supply - from your description the 15A is the permanent and the 5A is the switched.

Normally the radio will turn on/off with the ignition. But it can be turned on without ignition and will stay on for 20 minutes.

So when you omit the 5A and turn it on, it is running in "non ignition" mode and will turn off after 20 minutes. When you put the 5A fuse in, it thinks you've turned on the ignition - now when you remove the 5A fuse, it thinks you've turned the car off, and switches off.

Can't help with how to fix it though. Sorry.

Everything you describe sounds normal to me...GBMINI sounds correct. It sounds to me that you have a loose wire or your fuse contacts loosened up again.
