Works on my 9/03 built "04" model.

Just press the button on top of the turn signal stalk and the display changes from Temp to MPH.

I don't believe this is available on the "02 & "03" models.

Wait a minute, I've got a 05 MCS with a NAV and computer, and all I get is temp, mpg over a set time, mpg actual time, average speed, and range. I would love to get a digital readout of acutal mph cause the speedo you get with the NAV system is small and hard to read.

The reason that you (and I) don't get the digital speedo is that some genius at either MINIUSA or MINI Corporate decided that all MINIs with steering-wheel-mounted speedos (i.e. Factory Nav -OR- Chrono Pack) don't need the digital speedo.

It's stupid. VERY stupid. They took away a feature simply because they didn't think we'd need it. The digital speedo is supposed to be a workaround against some people's complaints that they had to look at the large center speedo instead of looking ahead for their speed.

So you only get the digital speedo in your tach if you have the large center speedo. I'm still hoping that someone smart out there will figure out how to enable it again for the rest of us!

Yea that is stupid. I wonder if I can sue Mini next time a cop tells me I was doing 61 in a 45. I'm 6'6" and I can't read the damn speedo once I get over 60mph.

You can do it with any Mini.... Put the IKE into diagnostic mode...

it's the same way you do the function 21 reset and the like. I think speed is in function 7. You can get RPM and water temps too! Works with nav...

It's not worth it... although it works, the digital speed reading comes out in Kilometers, and plus, you loose all features of the OBC by doing it that way.

It's on Mini2...

But I don't mind what you loose when you use it, I have Nav so the OBC display is still on it's screen, and it's the only real way to get an accurate temp display out of the car as well. That's real nice if you're driving hard.

Yup...that is true. It is great to get a very accurate readings for some things. I just don't think it is great for getting a speed reading because it is in KMH...however, the whole hidden system is still pretty neat, and fun to play around with!
