There could be a problem with the wiring. Try swapping the entire bulb holder from one side to the other. If that does not fix it, trace the wiring back to the BC module. Each side'e brake light has a separate controller output at the BCM. If there is no output from that pin on the BCM, then the driver IC inside the module has gone bad. It is possible to replace these, but it's a job for those who are familiar with surface-mount microelectronics repair.

Did you have a 'brake light mod' on this car?

yes i swapped the entire bulb holder and it did worked . what is the BC module and where is it ? and where is BCM ? and what does bmc stand for? yes i do have the clear tail light assembly and i did the fog light mod by using the the jumbo paper clip method . i have removed them thinking that might have screwed things up . however the other side fog light was still working ok .????? what now???? hey thanks for your input .

The BCM is the "Body Control Module", the computer responsible for coordinating the functioning of all the body-related electrical items (as opposed to the engine's ECU). This module is responsible for almost all exterior and interior lighting, the windows, locks, alarm system, etc. This module is located under the right side kick panel under the dash.
