Has anyone seen the ad for thenew Harmon Kardon IPOD controller in this months Car and Driver? It looks sweet, will defintely give the ICELINK a run for its money if we can get it into our cars.

Was it this one:

It was recently reviewed by CNET:

Looks pretty cool.

I saw it in the Crutchfield catalog. It looks very cool, but I'm not sure exactly where you'd put the display and the control **** in a MINI.

Too bad it's FM Modulated instead of a direct input into the stereo like the OEM iPod Adapter. So you're going to sacrifice some sound quality there.

Fantastic use of Robot Parade by They Might Be Giants. Although I think the "metal" version would be funnier.

I saw it at Fry's. Looks like the control **** base will fit nest to the side view mirror controller, but you'll have to drill. There's a hole for the line and 3 for mounting screws.

The display is completely rotatable. I was thinking about near the tach.

The FM modulation is only one connection option. There is also a direct connection if you have an AUX input.

It comes with a mini jack to RCA cable, but you can use a mini jack to mini jack cable to connect to the AUX input.

From the way they were describing it on the site it made it seem like the miniplug jack was for an external device to be hooked up to the adapter to also be able to feed that to the stereo. But it seems like the CNet review actualy mentions using an AUX input on the stereo as the feeder.

It has both. A line out to go into an AUX imput (on the diagram, they're using an mini jack to RCA line) and a line in for external devices.

So, I'm wondering if you have the HK system in your car and do the wiring option thru the aux input would the steering wheel controls work? I'm getting tired of waiting for BMW to come out with the new Ipod adapter with text and hope this would be a good solution.

Aux port does not offer any control functions just an input function from any device.
