'05 Alarm Panic mode?

well I had my alarm installed by the dealer, but how do I know if it is working properly?
I tried kicking, hitting, shaking and the car still wouldn't go off.
I tried pressing the "lock" key on the key fob and still no alarm.
All it does is flash lights and beep when I lock the car.
Is there a panic mode?

I don't have the alarm but...

Can you arm the alarm while sitting in the car? It's got a cabin motion sensor correct? Why not sit in the car with it armed and try and trigger the sensor?

Actually even simpler... Open the window stand outside the car.. Arm the alarm and open the door by reaching inside the car and pulling the handle. The alarm should go off..

I have the 05 alarm in Merlin, It does take alot to set it off.. Best way to set it off is to arm it then start to jack up the car and it will go off.
or sit in your MINI lock the doors then wait about 30sec sitting still then move around and knock the sensor in the back on the headliner that to should set it off..
As for the panic mode i do not think it has one

Regards
Scott

If you want to test it I agree with the open window method. But just fyi, to initiate the panic mode just hold down the middle button on the key.

On the new ('05 - ) keys, the 'middle button' is the MINI-logo lock button. By default I don't think holding down the lock button does anything.

To activate the panic mode, hold down the 'hatch-unlock' button for >3 seconds, whether the alarm is armed or not.

To cancel the panic mode, press the unlock button.

Panic mode with the OEM alarm and key remote is a configurable programming option. Search for the MINI memory configuration sheets I posted a few days ago. It's an option on there.
