2005 Rear Fog Wiring????

Okay first off i tried searching but didn't find any definate answers so here goes....Has anybody succesfully wired in there rear fog light on pre 10/04 build date 2005's MCS's? Obviously this would apply to people like me which DO NOT have the preexisting wiring harness installed for the rear fog light.

Thanks,
Guy

We may be out of luck for now.

The mechanic I go to said he's trying to figure out how to do it and is hoping BMW/MINI sends him either a retrofit kit or instructions. I have the switches on my car already (the car came with them) but no rear foglight and the dealership offered to sell me a rear foglight but could not hook it up for me.

That is all I know about it.

Sounds about the same for me...i bought a new toggle bank and rear fog light but because the wiring isn't there they are just for looks....which IMHO does look better.

Good of you to check...I'm hoping too. I'm also hoping it doesn't involve more than an hour's labor.

I thought about this (wiring up an extra brakelight) too and think it's a great idea. However, earlier in the spring, it got very foggy for a couple of nights here in the Vancouver BC area and I decided a rear foglight would be a very good safety measure.

Another option I thought about is something some of us did to our old Datsun 510's back in the late 70's and early 80's. That is to wire in a driving light to the back. Somewhere inbetween then and now, that became illegal. I would think I could probably do that with the rear foglight spot also.

yes... I had been requesting it of my dealer since ordering in June 04..
and I lucked out big time because they quoted me $150 not realizing that it would need to be wired from scratch

So the real value was $668 but I still only paid $150.

They had to run wires from the switch to the control unit in the passenger footwell, from there to the foglight, and then to a ground.
