I picked up a set of plug-and-play Halogen > LED headlamp assemblies.
Installation went easily enough on one side, but the other side is giving issues.
The harnesses the light manufacturer supplied are dog crap. They just don’t want to line up with the OEM sides at all, and some pins have been bent as a result of me pushing the harnesses together as hard as I can like an idiot.
What is stopping me from just snipping the harnesses off and connecting the wires from each end directly, using something like bullet connectors? (Besides ease of disassembly and reassembly, that is.) Do these harnesses do anything besides connect wire A to wire B, and C to D?
Nothing wrong with snipping connectors, other than ease of assembly and disassembly. However, you might want to consider a set of automotive style connectors with gaskets. Otherwise, water can get in and start to cause corrosion of the pins, leading to intermittent failures.
