ElectricalFor discussions regarding wiring up electrical modifications such as radar detectors, brake light mods, power sockets, and driving lights in Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs.
Hello,
My 2003 S has the newer R53 seats installed by one of the previously owners. No problem with airbag and tensioner but the seat belt lock harness/connectors are different. I know I can buy some used pre-tensioners but rather not spend money if the solution is easy. I've searched all kinds of threads but been unable to locate answers to the following 2 questions.
1. Does the airbags still work even I have the seat lock error code in the MRS system?
2. Based on the wiring diagram I think the blue/yellow segments/violet wire (see attachment) is the one for the seat lock. Can I just wire in a resistor from it to one of the other 3 wires? I've been unable to tell which of the 3 would make the circuit. I'd rather not experiment and damage the airbag computer.
Most of the threads are installing R56 seats into post-facelift cars which isn't really helpful.
