Controlling or extending pops and bangs?

Hello all,

I am driving a 08 R55 Clubby S and so far I love the car.
Only thing I miss are longer pops and bangs or even smaller burbles.
Currently it does it maybe for a half or a second (about 1 to 3 pops and bangs) If possible I would like to extend it to maybe two or three seconds, without going to a tuner.

I already know the drawbacks and that the catalysator will probably get damaged in the long term, but it is my "fun" car and if it gets damaged I will replace it in the future.

While looking around in Deep OBD I found in the jobs to "control" Schubblubbern (pops and bangs) and check the status of Schubblubbern.
Of course it already says it is turned on, but I did not try to "control" it, because I didnt want to risk anything and strangely I couldn't find anything online for the R5X series.

So is there a way for a non tuner person with simple K+DCAN cable or Bluetooth OBD2 adapter to extend or even change the burble? Any common used Software for coding like NCS Expert/ Tool32 / Ediabas?
If yes is there a tutorial for it?

BTW: I already coded im the Sport Button, but it does not change the exhaust sound / pops and bangs.

Thanks in advance

You have to get a tune. The only way to control how long it goes for is by the fuel map and the timing map and probably a couple other ones that are in the ECU.

Even though we can see the Schubblubbern (Pops and Bangs) option with Tool32/Ediabas?
Shouldnt there a variable which should allow us to configure the timing? I mean I "can" even control it according to the program. (Probably just on and off but still)

There are variables that can be changed but we can’t access those with the BWM tools, which are the timing and fuel tables. There’s been many threads about this and people finding the option that you’ve found. Just cause there’s an option for it doesn’t mean it will work.

If you end up getting a tune, Lou over at Prototype-r can remote tune these cars and can have the pops and bangs as loud and as long as you want, or as quite as you want.

Touch base with "adriancl" on this forum for remote tuning options. If all you want is pops/bangs it should be relatively inexpensive.

I will probably try to contact him to see what options I have.

BTW:
Is it still not possible to get the JCW Tuning Kit Software onto our cars, without buying the FSC Code from BMW/Mini?

Just a small update.

It is possible to activate / disable pops and bangs with Tool32 / DeepOBD.
If you have a MED17_2N ECU/DME you have the Job "Steuern_Schubblubbern" available.
You can turn it completly on or off (Turning on/off Sport Mode makes no difference to this option).
Nothing else unfortunately.

Unfortunately I didn't get any messages back from Adriancl after I pm'd him so I didn't want to bother / disurb him anymore.
