Ok... I have figured out that the schematic of the wiring isn't as simple as I had assumed... noob me... so i do hot have experience with cloning nor do I have ktag... so I sent a copy of this write up to my guy in Florida who had done some egs/frm cloning for me before... got the dme's back today and ISTA says "dme VIN missing or incorrect" resulting in no throttle what so ever... no other codes present... is there something wrong with the coding that was done? What are my options? Any ideas? Please help!!

PS... I did run new wires from the dme to the hpfp for the 1727 program off of terminals 36 and 34 as per the wire schematic

What did he do?

Is it still the same ecu?

He needs to modify the vin in maps file.

thanks for the response... he said he left the original flash and wrote only vin and immobilizer codes from the original to the medv1727... this is the dme I'm trying to use...

the write had to just not take... WinKpf showed the vin from the 2013 donor car in the 1727 dme

He needs to modify the flash also. Worst case scenario, he could delete the codes from the flash.

Did he copy over the eprom or just modified the ISN and vin?

Unfortunately this is over my head to be honest... my assumption is just modified the immo and VIN... based on his message of he left the original flash in the medv1727...

he understands this stuff quite well... would you please maybe give specific instructions for how the clone needs to be so I could pass them on to him? Since I don't fully understand all this... plus, I love any opportunity to learn new stuff

Thank you much!!

Also, when this is all done, will ista/p see it as the correct module and be able to program/code? Issue behind the question is that my car is a Clubman and the donor was a Hatchback... bm back doors aren't unlatching... assuming the VO needs to be programmed to match options of my car

Simply, copy over the eeprom from 1722 to the 1727. Then go the flash of 1727 and modify the vin. He should be able to update the check sums using something like winols not ktag ( original ktag unit does that automatically but not the Chinese clones.)
if the code returns for the Vin mismatch or missing, he needs to delete that dtc from the maps/flash file.

Ecu has nothing to do with the VO. It's stored in the CAS and FRM. Recode the fusebox if anything. Istap might through an error for the ecu because based on the year, it is expecting 1722 ecu.

If you could do it over again...Would you have gone with a 2011 engine... or the 2013 ?

Hahahaha ask me after it's running... so far it's not bad... especially if you were to have more knowledge than I with the cloning stuff it would be simple...

So, I bough a salvage car off the auction to get the donor motor (same price as buying a used motor and was also able to sell parts off as well as sell the donor car to recoup some money) so I fell into this problem by "mistake" more than plan (personal ignorance... I thought as long as the motor codes matched I was good)... hindsight I prolly would have found an older N18 with the conti pump... but they are harder to find with reasonably low miles...

Super thankful to have guys on here that are willing to share knowledge and teach...

Ok... been out of town with work... got the dme installed that was re-flashed... she drove down the road!!! BUT check engine light on and rpm limit to 4500, was all sorts of communication codes for egs (donor was an auto... my car manual)... thanks to help from NAM, went in with ISTA+, cleared learned values / adaptations from dme to remove the "look" for the egs... went to ncs expert to verify "205" didn't somehow appear in VO/FA, wasn't there... went to winkpf, programmed dme to the v.69 Daten and added my vin to the uif... In ncsExpert I performed sg_reset followed by sg_codieren... the car starts, runs smooth but back to no throttle as it did while it was seeing the vin mismatch

Back to ista.. NO FAULTS!?!?! The module tree shows dme with correct product number but shows variant as 1722 as that was factory installed and what it thinks it needs...

Where do I go from here? My gut is telling me the sg_reset was my mistake and need to send back to my guy to get cloned yet again

Or, do you know what the SGET data should be for the 1727? I think when I did the SG_RESET it changed these values back...

Is there any way to change the CAS, maybe a vo/fa code that will tell the car that the medv1727 variant is what's supposed to be there?
