R53: Swap Xenon for Halogen?

2006 JCW

I prefer the look of the halogen headlights.

Would it be a straightforward swap to convert to halogen?

Perhaps a downgrade in terms of emitted light, yes,
but an upgrade aesthetically in my opinion.

Any help/tips/thoughts appreciated.

Thanks.

What about going with pre-facelift xenons? It’s plug and play to go to facelift projectors from regular xenons so it might work the other way too.

Not a bad idea, thanks!

Just went looking at pre2005 xenons but they all appear to have the washers also.

Do all of the R53 xenons have the washers?

One of the reasons I prefer the look of the halogens is because they don't have the washers,
and also they just look more retro-classic as opposed to the alienlike xenons.

Pretty sure all first gen xenons have washers. Not having the indentation of the washer will definitely look cleaner and you won’t have to worry about the washer cover falling off at some point.

Does anyone know if this would be a straight plug & play swap?

The wiring diagram looks essentially the same for both versions.

Yes we have done it as a plug and play swap. Many people install our aftermarket halogen kits as they look really good and come in black.

And if you do have issue we can code the car to know it has non xenons to make any light work.

AWESOME!

Thanks Way.

After I get caught up with all the regular maintenance stuff on the car, I'll be making it back down to your shop for a tune and a few other various things.
