Electrical Halogen to Xenon Headlamp swap
Halogen to Xenon Headlamp swap
So after looking at my options of buying an R56 the only available locally that have xenon headlamps have them because they have the sport package which adds a ton to the price. So I will have to settle for a base S with the Halogens. That come to the question are the Xenon headlamps interchangable I would dare ask plug and play...?
I did a search but it came to threads from the 1st gen only. Im assuming mostly noone have tried this but just asking in case atleast one knows.
Its either the cooper S or an base FJ cruiser lol and custom ordering a cooper would be atleast 3 month wait... :impatient

Do a retrofit and buy a plug and play H7 kit or....
You can just buy the OEM xenons, and alter the harness to connect directly to the battery, and that will work. Im not sure how to do that, but its just a matter of bypassing the OEM wiring. Theres no reason you cant get two perfectly working ballasts and bulbs to work. Ballasts are just powered by two +/ - wires, which need to be connected to the battery, grounded, and somehow tapped into the OEM headlight stalk on switch. If you know anyone who's good at rewiring, it should be easy.

the only two real issues are the auto washer and auto height adjustment in the Xenons but if you don't care about those and refrain from hooking them up then the Xenons should be pretty easy to wire into the Halogen harness.

Yeah i dont care much about those... since i woun't have them if I do a retrofit on this housing. Its just that I prefer the projector + HID part... Have been looking for a set of lights but nothing shows up for R56. The washer I would have even desconnected them if I had the xenon on from the factory.
