Installing OEM LED DRL on non factory foglight?

Hello!

I recently bought a 2014 R59 justa. I would love to have OEM LED Daytime running lights on it, but since my MINI does not have foglights, my dealership said that they won't be able to install LED DRL on my Mini. I searched this forum and found the similar answer. (wiring and adjusting harness will be very costly)

I guess all those discussions were based on the assumption that you need the full functionality of the DRL, right? But I do not need them function perfectly. As long as it glows its halo ring when my Mini is turned on, I will be happy. (I won't use foglight function at all.)

Is anyone here knows if the installation of DRL will be much easier if I do not need the full fuctionality? (Maybe just run a wire to battery?)

Thanks!

A wire to the battery is probably not the best solution. You'd have to install an inline switch (and fuse) somewhere and it's just a matter of time until you forget to turn off the running lights and drain your battery. A better method might be to use a relay triggered by something that's on only when the ignition is on like the cigarette lighter. Another problem to solve is that you'll probably get a "light out" warning when you remove the oem running lights.

Been on this journey for over a year-

So far toggles added for front and rear

Rear coded and working - thanks to way and helix for they're patience.

Peanuts been recoded for fronts- ordering housings and fogs next-

Think I found someone to help with install as I'm not up to it physically yet

Can't seem to find any threads with someone who has actually gotten it done.
